Afghanistan, Pakistan to jointly fight terror

"Since the past two years, the two counties have found that terrorism and extremism is the common threat for both the nations," Xinhua quoted Omar as saying at a press briefing in Kabul.

He also said that Pakistan had vowed to extend all possible help for political stability in Afghanistan, adding: "Pakistan has put its full weight for the agenda of Afghan peace process."

The Pakistani government had vowed to fully support the Afghan government's efforts for the reconciliation and reintegration process of Taliban into society's mainstream, the spokesman asserted.

Omar also said that Afghan President Hamid Karzai, during his visit to Pakistan on Wednesday, assured his hosts that Afghanistan will not allow its soil to be used against any neighbouring country.

Karzai during his two-day official visit to Pakistan that concluded on Thursday categorically noted that Afghanistan does not want any proxy wars on its territory neither between India and Pakistan nor between the US and Iran.
