Bush heads to Beijing for Olympics
US President George W Bush headed on Thursday to Beijing to attend the Olympics, hours after giving a speech in Bangkok highlighting concerns over human rights in China.

US President George W Bush headed on Thursday to Beijing to attend the Olympics, hours after giving a speech in Bangkok highlighting concerns over human rights in China.
His stop in Thailand was aimed largely at pressuring the junta in neighbouring Myanmar, where the United States has recently tightened sanctions on the generals and their inner circle in protest at a deadly crackdown on pro-democracy protests last year.
His wife Laura Bush toured a refugee camp home to tens of thousands of people who have fled repression in Myanmar, while the president met leading dissidents in Bangkok.
