A Chinese man, who threw a 34-month-old toddler to her death during a row over a parking space, went on trial at a Beijing court on Monday.

Han Lei took the nearly three-year-old child from her pram and threw her to the ground near a bus stop in Beijing last month after her mother refused to make way for him to park his car.

The toddler died few days after the incident in July this year.

Han on Monday appeared before Beijing No 1 Intermediate People's Court.

He has been charged with intentional homicide for killing the baby girl, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

Prosecutors recommended that Han, who has been jailed before, should be given a severe punishment.
