In the letters to her beautician Janet Filderman in 1980s, Diana confided that she suspected young Prince William had acquired her habit of opening Christmas presents early as she found torn wrapping papers in the home.
In one dated December 14, 1985, she wrote: "I could not resist opening my present, as a parcel of any shape or form has never been safe with me and I fear that William has also picked up this dreadful habit from his mother, as I find wrapping paper undone in the most extraordinary places".
The gifts the late princess desired the most were picture frames in which she could put photos of her 'small men' - princes William and Harry, the letters said.
In another letter to Janet, dated December 25, 1987, the princess had thanked her for giving her a picture frame, Daily Mail reported.
"You are so clever to have found something that I hinted like mad for, but nobody had listened to until I opened your present. I can never get enough photograph albums for the amount of pictures I take of my small men and the arrival of yours is just perfect," she wrote.
The letters, over 30, are set to go under the hammer in London on February 13 and are expected to fetch up to pound 20,000.
