Aleppo activist Mohammed Saeed says the car wash is owned by a man known to be part of pro-government militias known as the shabiha. He said the blast killed six.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says the death toll for the Saturday attack was at least five.

Bomb attacks inside Syria's largest cities have become frequent as the country's uprising against President Bashar Assad grows increasingly militarized. Many in the opposition have taken up arms since protesters first took to the street in March 2011.

The U.N. says more than 9,000 people have been killed.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for Saturday's attack.
