Fifteen militants killed in Pak operations

Fifteen militants were killed and two soldiers injured in fresh clashes between Pakistani troops and the Taliban in South Waziristan as the army cleared more rebel-dominated villages, the military said on Friday.

Security forces faced "stiff resistance" as they Narakai village in Shakai sector. Fifteen militants were killed and a soldier was injured in fighting in this area, the military said.

A soldier was injured in a skirmish as troops cleared 30 militant compounds at Mad Amir Killi in Razmak sector and seized a cache of arms and ammunition.

The military said troops were consolidating their positions in Jandola, Shakai and Razmak sectors and clearing militant-held compounds and villages.

Soldiers recovered arms and ammunition when they cleared over 80 houses in the Jandola area. Security forces also cleared a key road linking Sarwekai and Siplatoi and defused 10 improvised explosive devices planted on the roadside.
