'Gas blast' kills at least eight in Pak: police

At least eight people were killed and more than 20 wounded in a southern Pakistan city on Monday when a gas cylinder apparently exploded, police said.

At least eight people were killed and more than 20 wounded in a southern Pakistan city on Monday when a gas cylinder apparently exploded, police said.

"The blast was apparently a gas cylinder explosion. Eight people were killed and dozens more injured," local police officer Kalim Mughal said from Hyderabad, where the explosion occured.

"It was an accidental blast caused by a gas cylinder," city police chief Javed Alam said in an interview broadcast by several television channels.
