Chihuahua state prosecutors' spokesman Carlos Gonzalez said yesterday that two teenage boys are among the victims in the attack in the town of Guadalupe y Calvo.

Gonzalez says the assailants were waiting in a vehicle parked along a dirt road and opened fire as the pickup truck went by Wednesday night.

He says an 8-year-old boy was seriously wounded. The area where Guadalupe y Calvo is located is in Mexico's "golden triangle" region. The area, which straddles Sinaloa, Durango and Chihuahua states, is known for drug cultivation and trafficking.
