Hillary erratic, violent: Former Secret Service agent

world Updated: Jun 07, 2016 07:04 IST

WASHINGTON: In a book scheduled for release later this month, a former Secret Service agent from the Bill Clinton White House calls Hillary Clinton“erratic, un controllable and occasionally violent ”.

According to published promotional extracts, the former agent, Gary J Byrne, claims in the book that Hillary screamed obscenities at her husband, the staff and Secret Service agents. “What I saw in the 1990s sickened me,” Byrne writes in the intro of the book “Crisis of Character: A White House Secret Service officer discloses his firsthand experience with Hillary, Bill and how they operate ”. Byrne, who said he was posted outside the Oval Office, once saw the president come to work with a black eye, which the agent claimed was given to him by the first lady.

The agent also writes that he once walked into a room and found the president“involved in appropriately with a woman” who was neither his wife nor Monica Lewinsky, the intern. It was on Byrne’ s complaint that Lewinsky, a White House intern having an affair with Bill Clinton, was removed to the Pentagon to deny her access to the president.

The book is likely to cause a storm when it releases and could pose fresh problems for the Clinton campaign.

A Clinton campaign spokesman, NickMerrill, slammed the book as the “latest in a long line of books attempting to cash in on the election cycle with their nonsense ... It should be put in the fantasy section of the book store.”
