Human rights activists took to the streets in Pakistan’s biggest city to protest the digging up of a Hindu man’s grave by a mob, which claimed he should not have been interred in a Muslim cemetery.

Human rights activists took to the streets in Pakistan’s biggest city to protest the digging up of a Hindu man’s grave by a mob, which claimed he should not have been interred in a Muslim cemetery.

Activists from Human Rights Watch and Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research organised the protest outside Karachi Press Club on Thursday.

On October 6, a Muslim mob dug up the body of 28-year-old Bhuro Bheel, a Dalit Hindu who died in a road accident, and placed it outside Haji Faqeer graveyard in Badin district on the ground that a Hindu could not be buried in a Muslim cemetery. Religious extremists were said to be behind the incident.
