Hyderabad student shot during robbery

A 28-year-old Indian student, hailing from Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh, was shot dead in a store robbery in Okhlama City in California.

A 28-year-old Indian student, hailing from Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh, was shot dead in a store robbery in Okhlama City in California.

Identified as Prasanth Goinaka, the victim was a student of International Technology University at Sunnyvale, California.

A resident of Dilkush Nagar in Hyderabad, Prasanth had taken up a part time job in a convenience store three days ago in the Okhlama City of Okhlama.

He had come to the US just two months ago.

The incident is reported to have occurred around 7-15 pm on Sunday when two men walked in to the store as customers, stole the cash from the cash register and gunned down Prasanth.

Oklahoma City Police are investigating the case. The autopsy report is awaited.

Prasad Thotakura, executive vice president of the Telugu Association of North America, said he is in constant touch with the parents of Prasanth, Oklahoma City police department, the Chief Medical Officer and the Indian Consulate authorities.

He said he is making necessary arrangements to send the body to India as early as possible.
