The Israeli military “failed to meet its obligation under international humanitarian law to care for and evacuate the wounded,” the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said.

It said Israeli soldiers tried to force the rescuers to leave when they finally reached the grisly scene in shell-battered Zeitun neighbourhood on Wednesday, four days after safe-passage had been requested.
