The person killed in the attack on Camp Victory on Tuesday, the military said in a statement, was a "third-country national," someone who is not an American or an Iraqi.
Thousands of US troops and top officers are based in Camp Victory near the airport.
The military did not provide other details, except to say it was an "indirect fire attack," the term it uses for describing rocket or mortar attacks.
