A Maoist cadre was killed and 52 others injured today when a passenger bus ferrying them to Kathmandu to take part in a massive anti-government protest met with an accident in western Nepal.

The accident took place in Aabukhaireni area of Tanahu district, police said. The deceased Maoist cadre has been identified as Suresh Gurung.
Police said the bus was heading to Kathmandu from Gorkha area carrying Maoist workers, who were travelling to the capital city to participate in the 'Singhdurbar Secretariat' gherao programme of the former rebels.
The 52 injured have been admitted to hospitals, 'The Himalayan Times' reported.
