The Mirwaiz Umer Farooq-led Hurriyat delegation has meet Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf and discussed proposals for self-governance and demilitarisation of Jammu and Kashmir.
Hurriyat sources told the agency that the Mirwaiz briefed Gen Musharraf about his proposals of establishment of a "United States of Kashmir", self-governance and demilitarisation of Jammu and Kashmir.
"It was a detailed meeting with Gen Musharraf and the Mirwaiz discussed all the proposals.... The Hurriyat Chairman will also present the same proposals to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the next round of talks," they added.
The unscheduled meeting was held late on Thursday night for about two hours.
The three-member delegation, comprising senior amalgam leaders Abdul Ghani Bhat and Bilal Ghani Lone, also discussed the steps required to mitigate the sufferings of the people of the state.
The separatist delegation called on Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and several parliamentarians Thursday.
The sources said Gen Musharraf assured the delegation that any resolution of the Kashmir issue will be finalised only after ascertaining the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
The amalgam delegation is on a week-long visit of quake-hit areas of Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The Mirwaiz-Musharraf meeting was their fifth interaction in the past nine months.
The Mirwaiz had met the Pakistan President in New Delhi on April 17 when Gen Musharraf had gone there to watch a one-day cricket match between India and Pakistan.
The two again met here on June 7 when Kashmiri separatist leaders crossed over to PoK on June 2 Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus.
On September 17, they interacted again in New York when Gen Musharraf was there to attend the 60th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and the Mirwaiz had to participate in an OIC conference.
On December 8 last year, the Hurriyat chairman called on Gen Musharraf on the sidelines of a two-day summit of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) in the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
