Phurba completed the race in 3:40:47 seconds to pocket $ 1,000 in winning prize money while Ram clocked 4:07:02 and Sudip came in third in 4:09:48 to bag $ 500 and $ 300, respectively.

Organised by Adventure Sports Tourism Society in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), the marathon started this morning from Everest Base Camp as participants had earlier faced some difficulty due to the 5 feet snow fall that occurred in the base camp.

Around 100 people including 45 foreign nationals participated in the race organised as part of the Second International Everest Day.

On May 29, 1953 Tenzing Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary had successfully scaled the Everest (8,848 metres).
