In his book, Shah, who was based in the palace during the reign of Birendra Shah and Nepal’s last king Birendra, had claimed that Maoist cadres were provided training at Chakrata in Uttarakhand during the civil war.

“There is no question of India training our cadres as we had already announced launch of tunnel war against it during the civil war,” Gajurel was quoted by local media.

The ministry of external affairs has already termed Shah’s claim as baseless and unfounded.
