"The importance of the terrorist can be gauged from the fact that he was operating in different areas of the country, including the federal capital," Malik told reporters.
He did not identify the terrorist or the group to which he belonged. The terrorist could be described as a "handler or operator" because his record showed his involvement in subversive activities, he claimed.
Security agencies have arrested almost all members of the terrorist's gang and one or two members will be nabbed soon, he said. Malik said he was hopeful that the investigation of the arrested terrorists will reveal more facts about their activities.
Security in Islamabad has been further strengthened following the arrest of the terrorists, he said. He contended there were indications that "some external powers" wanted to destabilise Pakistan but did not give details. The Margalla Hills are a series of small elevation hills located north of the Pakistani capital.
