"President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore," said a statement from his office released by the country's official APP news agency.
"The president asked the authorities concerned to immediately investigate the incident so that the perpetrators are identified and their motives exposed," the statement added.
"The prime minister termed it a terrorist attack and said the objective was to bring a bad name to Pakistan," said a statement from Gilani's office.
"He directed the provincial authorities to immediately beef up the security and submit him a report," it added.
