An undersea earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale rocked northwest Mexico on Thursday, Xinhua reported.
It occurred at 12.53 p.m. in the Gulf of California with its epicentre 105 km from Los Mochis in Sinaloa state, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.
Officials said there won't be a tsunami but there would be high waves.
