A South Korean court Wednesday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping 57 women over a seven-year period.
The court in the southern city of Changwon ruled that the 32-year-old should be "isolated from society forever".
The man identified only as Lee was convicted of the rapes between May 2001 and September 2008. He was arrested in January.
"The defendant indiscriminately raped women, including teenagers, for more than seven years," Judge Park Hyung-Jun said in his ruling, quoted by Yonhap news agency.
