The visit, first by a senior Indian dignitary since Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal assumed office in February, will focus on Nepal’s peace and constitution-drafting process as well as bilateral issues.
According to external affairs ministry officials, foreign secretary Nirupama Rao will also accompany Krishna.
“The visit is to reiterate India’s commitment to Nepal’s peace process and statute drafting. Issues related to problems faced by Indian companies and Maoist anti-India rhetoric will also be taken up,” said a diplomat.
Formalisation of boundary strip maps, double taxation avoidance agreement and treaties dealing with extradition and mutual legal assistance are also likely to come up for discussion.
