His mother, Aafia Siddiqui, was detained in Afghanistan in July. Siddiqui was taken to a US military base and then to New York, where she faces charges of assault on US personnel in Afghanistan. Siddiqui went to the US in 1990 and studied at various universities. She vanished in Pakistan in 2003.
