Strong quake shakes Georgia: USGS

A strong 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit Georgia early Tuesday, the US Geological Survey reported.

A strong 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit Georgia early Tuesday, the US Geological Survey reported.

The US Geological Institute said its epicentre was 156 kilometers (97 miles) northwest of the Caucasian state's capital Tbilisi.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties from Georgian media.

Last year, a major earthquake hit the Caucasus region killing at least 13 people and injuring more than a hundred.
