Azad Khan, the top local official in Jaji district of Paktia province, says four suicide bombers approached an area where about 50 men were being trained for the Afghan Local Police. It's a village-level force the US is developing to counter the Taliban insurgency.

Khan says one attacker blew himself up, two were gunned down by security forces protecting the area and a fourth attacker disappeared.

District hospital doctor Zakria, who goes by one name, says two trainees plus a member of the Afghan National Police were killed and two other policemen were injured in Thursday's attack.
