The victim, identified as Muhammad Ibrahim, was killed in the central province of Maidan Wardak, Afghan news agency Pajhwok reported, quoting an official.

The headless body of the victim was found in the Hameed Qala area of Syedabad district on Thursday, government spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said.

The murder of Ibrahim, a resident of Haiderkhel village, followed the Taliban's shocking execution by hanging of a seven-year-old boy earlier this month.

The Taliban accused the child of passing information to foreign soldiers in the restive southern province of Helmand.
