Two held for attacking Indian peacekeepers in Congo

Military officials in the Democratic Republic of Congo today said they have detained two suspects allegedly involved in the attack on Indian peacekeepers, which left three soldiers dead and seven injured, Xinhua reported.

Three Indian soldiers serving with the UN peacekeeping force were killed and seven injured when their camp in Kirumba, 500 km from Congo's capital Kinshasa, was attacked by Mayi rebels early on Wednesday.

The soldiers belong to the 19 Kumaon Regiment.

Around 2,700 Indian soldiers are serving with the UN peacekeeping force in the Congo that is commanded by an Indian Army officer, Lt Gen Chander Prakash.
