US Republican presidential candidate John McCain was in Iraq on Sunday for talks with senior American officials, a US embassy official told AFP.

US Republican presidential candidate John McCain was in Iraq on Sunday for talks with senior American officials, a US embassy official told AFP.
"Senator McCain is in Baghdad," said embassy information officer W Johann Schmonsees.
The US senator, who is on a tour of Europe and the Middle East, `is due to meet the American ambassador to Baghdad, Ryan Crocker, embassy spokesman Philip Reeker added.
