A joint filing Sunday in Miami federal court asks a judge to postpone hearings set to begin Monday. The filing says all sides hope to reach some resolution of the high-stakes case. If no deal is reached, the filing suggests holding the hearings in August.

US District Judge Alan S Gold did not immediately rule on the request but would likely accept it. The US claims some 52,000 wealthy Americans are dodging taxes by hiding billions of dollars in UBS accounts.
