US Ambassador to Pakistan Anne W. Patterson said Saturday that the US had wanted a peaceful transition to democracy and dignified retirement for Musharraf, Daily Times reported on its site on Sunday quoting a private TV channel.

"Now he (Musharraf) has become a thing of the past and we have no position on him," she said.

Patterson added that the demands for Musharraf's trial under Article 6 of Pakistan's constitution were the country's internal matter.
