Nepal's legendary singer and music composer Koili Devi Mathema passed away in the capital on Friday. She was 77.

Mathema, who enthralled thousands of music lovers through his enchanting voice for over four decades, passed away at her Ghattekulo residence in Kathmandu, according to Radio Nepal.
Mathema, a heart disease patient, was unwell for the past few months. She is credited with more than 4,000 songs, including national songs, bhajans and contemporary songs.
Mathema, who has won numerous awards and honours including the Prabal Gorkha
Dakshin Bahu in 2000 and Indra Rajya Laxmi Pragya Puraskar in 2001, began her musical career in state run Radio Nepal in 1950.
