Bengaluru gears up for G-Shock Open Air 2016

It could not get heavier than this for rock music lovers in Bengaluru. G-Shock Bangalore Open Air, one of India’s biggest heavy metal festivals, is the most awaited event in the rock calendar of the southern city since 2012. The highlight of the event this year is its 5th anniversary.

The event brings artists/bands including Vader (Poland), Skull Fist (Canada), Nader Sadek (Egypt), Severe Dementia (Bangladesh), Inner Sanctum (Bengaluru) and Providence (Mumbai) to Bengaluru this year. So, headbangers in the city can look forward to flexing their neck muscles for the musical extravaganza.

What’s more? Heavy metal bands in India also have a chance to showcase their talent at the international level with G-Shock Wacken Metal Battle.

In its pursuit to hunt for the best of heavy metal in India, G-Shock Wacken Metal Battle has travelled to Guwahati, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune and Hyderabad.

The shortlisted bands include Godia, Gaia’s Throne, Corpulent Deformity, Vidyut, Jammers Graveyard, Rectified Spirit, Godless and Kryptos. The winner of the battle will be titled as the ‘G-Shock Band of the Year’.

The Wacken Metal Battle will reach out to Indian headbangers via eight pre-gigs. The winner of the competition will be announced on the main leg of the Bangalore Open Air festival on July 9, Saturday.
