A 58-year-old Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer died in a road accident after being hit by a speeding car on Sunday at Shahpura locality in Bhopal. The accused car driver sped away after hitting the officer and investigations are on to nab him.
According to Shahpura police, the IB officer Ajay Kumar Khare, a resident of Trilanga locality was going on his scooter to visit his under-construction house in Akriti Retreat township at Kolar Road. He was on his way, when suddenly a speeding car hit him from behind and sped away. The passersby immediately informed the police and rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The deceased IB officer was posted in IB headquarters in Bhopal and was deployed in its technical wing. He was living with his family in Bhopal and was about to retire after two years, added police.
The police in its initial investigations have ruled out any conspiracy in the accident.
“In the prima facie investigation, it seems that the incident was just a road accident and not a planned one. Police though on the basis of description of the car involved in the accident given by the eye-witnesses detained a similar looking car and questioned its owner. Investigations are on to nab the unknown accused after registering a case for death by negligence under section 304(a) of IPC,” said Anshuman Singh, superintendent of police, Bhopal (South).
