It was a moment of sheer joy for the Pakistani women’s team cricketer Kainat Imtiaz, when she got to meet her inspiration from the Indian cricket team, Jhulan Goswami. Last Sunday, India and Pakistan took on each other at the County Ground in Derby, England, during an ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 match.

India handed out a 95-run mauling to Pakistani in that low-scoring contest. Despite being restricted to 169 for 9 in their 50 overs, India, led by Ekta Bisht’s five-wicket haul, continued their impressive run.

However, Kainat, who was not part of the contest, was lucky enough to meet her idol from the Indian camp. According to Kainat, it was Jhulan — who is now the leading wicket-taker in women’s ODI cricket — had inspired her to become a fast bowler more than 12 years ago.

Kainat posted a picture with the Indian fast bowler on her Instagram page, and revealed an emotional story behind it.

“Let me share a story with you all. In 2005 i saw the Indian team for the 1st time as the Asia cup was held in Pakistan. I was the ball picker during the tornament... I saw @jhulangoswami. The fastest bowler of that time. I was so impressed that i chose cricket as a career. Specificly fast bowling. ” she wrote (sic).

Kainat added, “Its a proud moment for me as after 12 years today in 2017 i am playing this ODI World Cup with one of my inspirations and getting more inspired....... ” (sic)

A few days ago, Kainat had posted a picture of herself with former India Women’s captain Anjum Chopra, who is currently working as a commentator in the ongoing tournament.

The victory over Pakistani propelled India to the top of the points table in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017. While Pakistani face the challenge of facing the Australian next, India will be taking on Sri Lanka in their next contest.
