Did your invitation to Monday’s Met Gala get lost in the mail? Don’t panic -- you can still recreate the glamorous beauty looks of the stars who walked the red carpet in New York on May 2.
Selena Gomez may have raised eyebrows with her edgy Louis Vuitton dress, but she played it safe with a traditionally glamorous and gorgeous makeup look. Kiehl’s makeup artist Hung Vanngo prepped the star’s skin with Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate for extra radiance, before moisturising with Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream and Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado to create a smooth base.
He then ensured an even complexion with Chanel Vital Lumiere Foundation in 40 B, and NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer in Custard, before setting it with NARS Light Reflecting Setting Powder. Her eyebrows were filled in using Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Medium Brown, while Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner in Raven gave her eyes a soft, smoky appearance. A line of MAC Glitter Reflects Gold was swept across her lids and lower lash line for a touch of drama, with medium-length individual Ardell lashes added to the outer corners of her eyes. Two coats of Dior Diorshow Extase Mascara in Black Extase finished the look.
Katy Perry recently announced the launch of her CoverGirl makeup range so it is no surprise that she put her faith in the cosmetics brand for her Met Gala look. Makeup artist Todd Delano used Ready, Set, Gorgeous Foundation in 220 to even out the singer’s skin tone, before bronzing and contouring with Trublend Bronzer in Bronze and Trublend Blush in Medium Rose. The Trunaked Eyeshadow Palette in Nudes was used on the eyes, with a sweep of Covergirl Liquiline Blast Eyeliner in Blue Boom bringing out the water line.
The star wore her own new Katy Kat Eye Mascara in Perry Blue to add a jolt of colour to her lashes. She also wore her own Katy Kat Matte Lipstick in Perry Panther for the highlight of her look -- striking black gothic lipstick.
Celebrity makeup artist Pati Dubroff gave Dakota Johnson a pretty and playful look using Laura Mercier products that began with the range’s Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation and included an iridescent cream blush, bold pink lip cream and eye shadows and glitters whose turquoise tones perfectly offset the actresses emerald green Gucci slip dress.
