Actor Ali Fazal — along with the makers of the seventh installment of The Fast And The Furious franchise — is planning to invite car enthusiasts from across the country for a drag race in Lonavla.

Actor Ali Fazal — along with the makers of the seventh installment of The Fast And The Furious franchise — is planning to invite car enthusiasts from across the country for a drag race in Lonavla. A source close to Ali, who is part of the film’s cast, reveals that the event will be held in the third week of February.

“In the memory of Paul Walker (this was the actor’s last film before he died in a car accident in November, 2013), the makers of the Hollywood action series are going all out to make sure all markets are tapped for its release. They wanted to design a special marketing strategy for Asia.”

When contacted, Ali confirmed the news, saying, “I always wanted to be part of a drag race. So, I thought of organising one, since, for me, this will be a real-life extension of what the film is about. However, we are certain not to overlook the safety aspects involved. It will be fun to see mean machines burning some rubber.”
