At a time when foreign funding received by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is under the home ministry's scanner, people adding Rs 1, Rs 5 or Rs 11 to the AAP's coffers online have given a touch of humour and sarcasm to its donor list.
Donations are flying thick and fast for the AAP, especially after the Somnath Bharti episode. Contributors have found a platform in the column mentioning their names on the AAP website to make political statements in their own way.
While a donor claims to be "Dharmexxxx Sxxx (with Big support to Bharti)" another says "Modi is wind but Kejriwal is a cyclone".
Besides, some are critical of the rookie party. "Will Kejriwal ever take action against sheila dixit will he explain his relation with sandeep dixit (sic)."
Perturbed, the AAP said it was mulling changes in the software configuration to bring an end to this plethora of sarcasm.
"We are aware of this recent trend. We will be introducing changes in the software to limit the entry up to 30 characters and disallow use of special characters and numerals," said Bipul Dey, AAP's in-charge of donations and banking.
Former Team Anna member Kiran Bedi criticising chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's protest at Rail Bhavan seems to have "inspired" a section of donors.
For instance, a donor has mentioned "(Inspired by Kiran Bedi)" after his name while another has said "Divxx (To Kiran Bedi's Jealousy)".
Almost all the key issues and controversies that have surrounded the rookie party after its stellar electoral debut in Delhi last year appear to have found a place in the donor list.
There are donors who mention "10 crore membership by February", "shame on Indian media. It is too much corrupted", "BINNY INTENTION IS VERY BAD (AAP IS GOOD FOR INDIA)", "Jack of all threads", "CongBJPQuit INDIA", "weloveYedaKejriwal (sic)" and "all muslims should cast their vote for app (sic)".
Most of these come with a donation of Rs 1 each.
But probably the two most amusing donors are the ones contributing Rs 1 almost every day or every alternate day.
One is from Palamu (Jharkhand) and another is from Pune (Maharashtra), who donates daily (at times more than once a day).
