Mumbai city news: Officials from the Andheri RTO seized the car parked at Vile Parle
A flying squad from the Andheri Regional Transport office has seized a car that was converted into a limousine illegally on Thursday. According to a source, the limousine, with a Punjab registration, was brought to the city for a film shoot.
Originally, it was a Nissan Teana XL model that was modified and converted into a limo with a bar, LED lights, fridge, LED screen and other facilities, according to RTO sources. The limo’s length stretched to more than 7,200 mm, from the original 4,885mm . Also, the wheel base (distance between two wheels) of the car was found exceeding the limit, besides the weight of it. RTO has taken action against the limo for unauthorized changes in the body of the original car without the approval of testing agencies. According to RTO sources, for any kind of structural changes, approval from testing agencies like Automotive Research Association of India and Central Institute of Road Transport is needed.
