Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Sunday reviewed the arrangements for the celebration of the 350th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh and sanctioned Rs 100 crore for festive programmes to be organised in 2018.
The birth anniversary would be “celebrated as a massive event of global magnitude with focus on the Guru’s message on peace, humanism, love and universal brotherhood and its relevance in the emerging national and international scenario”, a spokesman here said. The commemorative events include seminars on the works, history and philosophy of Guru Gobind Singh.
The key decisions taken at the high-level meeting included setting up of a research foundation under the chairmanship of the chief minister for which a corpus fund of Rs 5 crore would be created.
