Jalandhar cops honour college boys who nabbed two robbers

Two students of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Gurpal Singh (21) and Jagdish Singh (23), who had nabbed two robbers after they tried to loot Rs 1.94 lakh from an employee of a security agency near city hospital chowk on Monday were honoured by the city police here on Tuesday.

Two students of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Gurpal Singh (21) and Jagdish Singh (23), who had nabbed two robbers after they tried to loot Rs 1.94 lakh from an employee of a security agency near city hospital chowk on Monday were honoured by the city police here on Tuesday.

Both were given commendation certificates and a cash award of Rs 5,000 each for their bravery.

The police officers appreciated their act and appealed the citizens to come forward in helping the police to arrest the criminals.

On Monday evening, an employee of security agency, Subedar Chanchal Singh of Jandu Singha, was going to deposit the money in the bank when he was followed by six bike-borne youths. As two of them tried to snatch the bag, he raised an alarm following which Gurpal and Jagdish chased them and nabbed the two.

The accused were identified as Hari Om of Lahori Gate Kapurthala and Sandeep Kumar of Raj Nagar.
