Pt Birju Maharaj to Hema Malini: Indian music stars to perform at Amaravati music fest
At the pavitra sangam of rivers Krishna and Godavari in Amaravati, India will be hosting its first riverfront music festival, where artists such as L Subramaniam, Kavita Krishnamurti, Pandit Birju Maharaj , Hema Malini and others will be performing.

Amaravati — the people’s capital of Andhra Pradesh is set to witness a congregation of artists from all over the world as the city prepares itself to host the first edition of Amaravati Global Music and Dance Festival.
The city situated at the conflux of rivers Krishna and Godavari, is organising the first-ever four day riverfront festival in India. Artists such as such as L Subramaniam, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Talat Aziz, Anup Jalota, Suresh Wadkar will be performing at the festival, which will feature Indian classical, western classical, Bollywood music, global fusion and folk music. It will also feature performance by Pt Birju Maharaj and actor-dancer Hema Malini.
The festival’s artistic director is violin maestro L Subramaniam . His wife Kavita Krishnamurthy will also be performing at the festival. “Since my husband is curating the festival and he is almost living the event. I’m singing on the second day on the Bollywood segment. There will all kinds of music in the fest. Singer Anup Jalota will sing bhajans, while Purna Das Baul will bring on stage Bengal’s folk music,” says the singer. Apart from Indian artists, the event will features performances by international artists such as Solo Cissokho and Jeno Lizstes.
