Relishing Indian cinema

To celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema, the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) will screen Achhut Kanya (1936), as a part of its Flashback series.

To celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema, the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) will screen Achhut Kanya (1936), as a part of its Flashback series.



The Hindi film is directed by Franz Osten and features actors Devika Rani, Ashok Kumar and PF Pithawala, among others.

The film tells the tragic tale of an untouchable girl, Kasturi, and her thwarted love for a Brahmin youth, Pratap. They are forced to marry persons whom they cannot love. They avoid each other after marriage, till chance throws them together at a village fair.



The film will be screened on February 21, at the Little Theatre, NCPA, Nariman Point, from 6.30 pm onwards.



Admission is on a first come, first served basis.
