‘Unlike a saint’: BJP hits out at ‘Computer Baba’ who got prized post in MP
Self-styled Godman Computer Baba aka Namdev Das Tyagi appointed as chairman of ‘Ma Narmda, Ma Shipra, Ma Mandakini Nadi Nyas’ by Congress government claims he will expose scam on plantation on Narmada banks but BJP in a counter attack alleges his conduct is not like a saint
Navdev Das Tyagi, popularly known as ‘Computer Baba’, has been appointed by the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh as the chairman of a trust meant to look after the rivers in the state. In March last year, he was given minister of state status by the then Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government.

On Monday, the self-proclaimed monk said the BJP government had done nothing for conservation of Narmada river except for making tall promises. He alleged that the Shivraj Chouhan government lacked the will to act against illegal mining. Incidentally, ‘Computer Baba’ was the member of a committee for conservation of Narmada at that time.
He said that if the Congress government led by Kamal Nath didn’t work for the conservation of Narmada and other rivers assigned to him that he would not spare it too.
‘Computer Baba’ hit headlines in March last year when he and four other religious leaders were accorded minister of state status as members of a committee to work on conservation of Narmada river. He resigned from the committee six months later accusing Shivraj Chouhan of not fulfilling his promises to conserve the river. Later, he sided with Congress, held meetings of religious leaders at various places against the BJP government.
The self-proclaimed monk said that current chief minister Kamal Nath has shown trust in him. “I got the appointment order barely four hours back. I have given a clear message to those involved in illegal mining that they will have to stop,” he said on Monday.
The BJP took a swipe at ‘Computer Baba’ and said his conduct has been unlike a saint. “He (Computer Baba) started working for the Congress even when the then BJP government reposed faith in him. His political ambition to become an MLA or MP came in the way of his work. The Congress president himself had criticised him,” said BJP spokesperson Rajneesh Agrawal.
Congress president Rahul Gandhi had criticised the then BJP government in MP for over according minister status to Baba.
