Morena cop's killing: Truck owner detained, driver still at large

The special investigation team (SIT) constituted to probe into killing of a police constable in Morena, has detained the owner of the dumper truck which had run over the policeman. The driver of the truck is still at large.

Around half-a-dozen persons including owner of the dumper Ramlakhan Singh Gurjar have been detained. They are being questioned by the police.

However, no formal arrest has been made by the police so far. AIG GK Pathak, who heads the SIT, told Hindusan Times that the owner of the truck has been detained. "We are interrogating him. The SIT is collecting evidence against the suspects", Pathak further added.

The SIT team also visited the spot where the policeman, Dharmendra Singh Chauhan, was mowed down by the truck.

After the incident, the driver Tahsil Singh Gurjar had run away. The SIT team has recorded statements of the local residents. Efforts are on to catch Gurjar too, said SIT officials.
