Rattled by the alleged murder of IPS officer Narendra Kumar and attacks on other officials cracking down on illegal mining, MP Police have arrested a leader of the ruling BJP and an ex-dacoit.

BJP’s Morena district vice-president Hamir Singh, who had allegedly attacked mining officials on January 31 last year, was held on Sunday.

On Saturday night, police had arrested former dacoit Kuber Singh in Chhatarpur district for allegedly shooting at officials trying to demolish a makeshift culvert used for transporting illegally mined sand.

Mining has been stopped in Chhatarpur. Meanwhile, inspector CBS Raghuvanshi of Bamore — where Kumar was killed — was shifted to the police line.
