NGT warrant issued against Bhopal municipal commissioner

The central bench of National Green Tribunal has issued a bailable warrant against Bhopal municipal commissioner in connection with a case related to an alleged illegal installation of a mobile tower.

The central bench of National Green Tribunal (NGT) has issued a bailable warrant against the Bhopal municipal commissioner in connection with a case related to an alleged illegal installation of a mobile tower in the old city.

Municipal commissioner Tejasvi Naik will have to appear before the tribunal on October 13.

The tower was being installed by Reliance Jio Infocomm on behalf of Reliance Telecom Pvt Ltd.

The case relates to Vasundhara Vikas Samiti's complaint with the tribunal. The Samiti had demanded that the mobile tower should be immediately removed as it was being installed in violation of the set norms.

The NGT issued the warrant against the commissioner on Wednesday when none appeared on behalf of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) despite several notices to them to represent the case.
