Replying to a question on former UP Congress chief Rita Bahuguna’s exit from the Congress to join the BJP, the Congress MP said it would have made sense had she left the party over ideological rift or disagreement over policies and programmes.

“But the politics of opportunism leads to instability,” Scindia said, adding that a section of politicians get into Aaya-Ram, Gaya-Ram during the elections. The Congress does not pay much attention to such trends, he said.

Scindia reached Gwalior on Friday to pay his last respects to senior Congress leader Satyadev Katare. The veteran Congress leader breathed his last in Mumbai on Thursday.

The Congress MP from Guna described Katare as a true Jan Sewak (public servant) who worked tirelessly for people of the region.
