Police control rooms will be set up on lines of 108 Ambulance Service in the state to provide immediate police assistance to people in accidents, crimes and other emergencies.
The pilot project will be launched in 4 major cities Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur. Home minister Umashankar Gupta discussed the proposal with officers here on Tuesday.
Gupta said that control rooms will be set up in entire state on the basis of experience of similar set up in Hyderabad. Due to limited resources, the project will be launched initially in 4 major cities in MP.
ADG, Telecommunications, Anvesh Mangalam apprised about prompt action being ensured by Hyderabad police as they have linked control room with 108 Ambulance Service.
On the directives of the home minister, a five-member team of police officers from the state had visited Hyderabad and subsequently chalked out a detailed report abut technical and other aspects of the project.
Manglam had led the team. He said that at least 60 additional vehicles will be needed for launching the project in 4 districts.
GPS will also be fitted on vehicles. He saidd that 101 fire service and 1090 women’s helpline will also be linked with this later. The Central control room will be set up in Bhopal.
Telecommunication wing police staff will be trained and deployed to run the central control room. Civil staff of GVK EMRI will also be deployed to assist them.
Calls will be received mainly by the civil staff and transfer the same to the police operator within 1-2 seconds for further action. Woman caller’s phone calls will be received by woman operator only.
