On being questioned about her fellow competitor, Priyanka Chopra, who has seen success in Hollywood, Deepika shared that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is the one who must be given the credit first.

Deepika Padukone says Aishwarya Rai was the first celebrity who put India on global map.

Actor Deepika Padukone wants fellow Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to be acknowledged as someone who put India on the global map.

During an interview with Deccan chronicle, Padukone who will be soon seen with actor Vin Diesel in the third instalment of XXX franchise, said that she does not agree that either Priyanka Chopra or Irrfan Khan deserve that acknowledgment.

“She (Aishwarya), for me, is the torch bearer for putting India on the global map. But everyone who has managed to break through into the western market — whether it is Anil (Kapoor), Irfan, Priyanka, or myself — I think we have all done a great job,” she was quoted as saying.
