Sanjay will be seen as the patriarch of a powerful political dynasty. Ali will essay the role of Sanjay’s onscreen son, whereas Amyra will play Ali’s love interest. Reports claimed that Ali has replaced Sooraj Pancholi who was initially supposed to work on the film.

Much like the original, the Hindi remake will be a political drama except for a few changes in the script that Deva has incorporated to cater to the pan-Indian audience.

Prasthaanam also marks the return of Sanjay Dutt to production after seven years, following his last stint with David Dhawan’s Rascals in 2011.
